Common Questions
01.
What is men's lab testing?
Men's health lab testing consists of blood and urine tests that are specifically designed to screen the health of males. Differences between men and women on a social and physical level also translate to a biological level, and blood testing designed around biomarkers relevant to men can be helpful in assessing general health and looking for organic problems.
02.
What are examples of men's health blood tests that are important?
In men, hormonal profiles can be quite different from those in women. As men get older, they may have specific issues involving male organs such as the prostate or the testes.
03.
Does men's health testing change with age?
Definitely. Throughout a man's lifetime, levels of various markers rise and fall, depending on the age. Early in life, general wellness screening is typically recommended for a healthy male. Later in life, more intensive lab testing should be performed to check for heart disease risk factors, prostate abnormalities, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and more. To help simplify the process of routine screening for men's health with lab tests, we have created age-specific men's panels that cover a wide range of men's health issues at various points in life.
04.
Why should I get my men's health tests through Accesa Labs?
Through our relationships with affiliated national labs, our customers have access to affordable, all-inclusive pricing for the men's health tests they want. Men's health testing can help screen for ongoing wellness or identify lab test abnormalities to help you get back to optimal health. Also, as part of our men's health test service, we offer a guarantee to all of our customers.
05.
Is there a difference between Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp or other labs for men's health testing?
For the most part, no. All labs typically provide an interpetation guide (i.e. a reference range) on the lab report against which you can compare your lab test results to determine if you are in range or out of range. There might be specific situations in which one lab's methodology on a male screening lab test might differ from another lab's standard process. These differences can make test results slightly harder to interpret (but definitely not impossible) if you are trying to compare one lab result against a prior result from a different lab.
